On July 14, 2026, officers were dispatched to Highway H at approximately 1:25 p.m. for a report of harassment. According to the probable cause statement, the victim told officers she had recently ended her relationship with 26-year-old Malachi Hawes and had repeatedly told him to stop contacting her. Despite those requests, Hawes allegedly called her 16 times within 48 hours. The victim also reported receiving text messages from Hawes saying she “released the demon in him” and threatening to “burn buildings to the ground, shoot places up, and cause chaos in the world.” Officers later located Hawes at a residence on Ball Road. According to the probable cause statement, Hawes admitted sending the messages and repeated similar threats to officers. He allegedly stated he intended to “burn buildings to the ground, shoot places up, and cause chaos in the world” because of the breakup. Court documents state Hawes also told officers that future family members would have to “watch their backs” because they would grow up in a chaotic world. When officers asked if he understood why the victim felt threatened, Hawes allegedly said he would threaten her again. Officers placed Hawes in handcuffs and secured him in a patrol vehicle. While inside the vehicle, Hawes allegedly began striking his head against a window. After being informed that he was under arrest for harassment, Hawes allegedly attempted to exit the patrol vehicle and repeatedly refused commands to get back inside. Officers used a WRAP restraint device after Hawes allegedly resisted efforts to secure him and attempted to stand while being restrained. During the struggle, Hawes allegedly kicked and made contact with the head of a supervising officer. While being transported to the Pettis County Jail, Hawes allegedly threatened to take an officer’s firearm and shoot the officer in the face. He also allegedly stated he knew where the victim lived and that she would be his first destination after his release. Hawes is now charged with harassment in the first degree, resisting arrest for a felony, and assault in the fourth degree. According to a probable cause statement filed in Cole County, investigators with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Office of Special Investigations reviewed allegations involving Amy Lavern Shoup and a victim confined to a nursing home. Shoup had durable power of attorney over the victim and had sole control of the victim’s bank account. Investigators reported that Shoup was expected to pay the victim’s nursing home bill. The nursing home where the victim was confined was sold in November 2025. Investigators reported that Shoup owed the prior nursing home $67,000 and had an outstanding balance of $16,000 to the new nursing home. The statement says attempts to collect payment had been made, but Shoup had only made sporadic payments. During a face-to-face interview, the victim told investigators that permission was never given to Shoup to use the victim’s money for anything other than the victim’s care. The victim stated they had not seen their debit card or identification card since being admitted to the nursing home. The victim said Shoup had possession of the debit card and identification card during the entire time the victim had been living in the nursing home. Investigators reviewed the victim’s bank records and reported finding numerous transactions at various locations while the victim was confined to the nursing home and did not have possession of the debit card. According to the probable cause statement, $82,594.91 was withdrawn from the victim’s account. Investigators reported that $30,100 was paid to the nursing home, while $52,494.91 was used by Shoup for her own benefit. During a face-to-face interview, Shoup admitted she had durable power of attorney over the victim and used the victim’s funds to help pay her own bills. Investigators reported that Shoup also admitted she did not pay the nursing home bill where the victim was living, despite her fiduciary responsibility as durable power of attorney. The investigator stated that Shoup was believed to be a flight risk because she had control of the victim’s bank account and had knowledge of the investigation. The investigator also stated that Shoup had shown a lack of care for the victim and the victim’s needs. Shoup is now charged with financial exploitation of an elderly/disabled person and misappropriation of funds of an elderly nursing home resident. On May 12, 2026, a victim reported to the Jefferson City Police Department that she had possession of two cellular phones used by her husband, Robert Michael Ferguson. The victim reported Ferguson had been using the phones to disseminate sexually explicit content of her without her knowledge or consent. The victim also reported that, based on images and video she saw on Ferguson’s phones, she believed he may have been involved in contacting minors for sexually related content. The victim took screenshots of the content she found and turned the screenshots and both phones over to law enforcement. Search warrants were applied for and granted for the cellular devices. During the investigation, the victim identified one video showing her and Ferguson engaged in sexual intercourse. She also identified photos of herself that had been sent to multiple individuals. The victim reviewed the screenshots with an officer and was able to identify several phone numbers Ferguson had been communicating with as members of their church congregation. The probable cause statement states that Ferguson is a former youth minister. The probable cause statement further states that Ferguson would not appear in court in response to a criminal summons because, while officers were obtaining his personal information during an interview, he disclosed that he is homeless and does not have an address for court correspondence. According to the probable cause statement, officers alleged Ferguson posed a danger to the victim, the community, or another person because he was a youth minister who admitted to using his position within his church for criminal activity. Officers also alleged Ferguson lied about his identity to manipulate a juvenile by text. The probable cause statement states the investigation remains ongoing and there are potentially additional victims related to the child enticement portion of the investigation. Ferguson is now charged with enticement or attempted enticement of a child, nonconsensual dissemination of private sexual images, and attempted sexual exploitation of a minor. According to an indictment filed in Henry County Circuit Court, Alfred Joshua Reid has been charged in connection with an alleged incident on or about Dec. 14, 2025, in Henry County. According to the indictment, Reid is accused of knowingly causing physical injury to a confidential victim by strangling and striking her. The indictment states the confidential victim was a domestic victim because she was Reid’s spouse. The indictment further alleges Reid knowingly acted in a manner that created a substantial risk to the life, body, and health of Juvenile Victim 1, a child under 17. Court records allege Reid threatened to harm Juvenile Victim 1 and the juvenile’s family, refused to allow the juvenile to leave, and committed domestic violence against the juvenile’s mother in the juvenile’s presence. According to the indictment, Reid is also accused of knowingly acting in a manner that created a substantial risk to the life, body, and health of Juvenile Victim 2, a child under 17. The indictment alleges Reid threatened to harm Juvenile Victim 2 and the juvenile’s family, refused to allow the juvenile to leave, and committed domestic violence against the juvenile’s mother in the juvenile’s presence. The indictment also alleges law enforcement officers were attempting to arrest Reid for the felonies of endangering the welfare of a child and domestic assault in the second degree. According to court records, Reid knew or reasonably should have known officers were making an arrest and resisted for the purpose of preventing the arrest by using or threatening the use of physical force or fleeing. On July 4, 2026, a detective with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a major and advised to respond to Children’s Mercy Hospital for a reported child abuse investigation. According to the probable cause statement, the child victim was transported by ambulance to Children’s Mercy Hospital on July 3, 2026, with multiple fractured bones. The detective arrived at Children’s Mercy Hospital and spoke with a physician at the SCAN clinic. The physician reported the child had an oblique fracture to one humerus, a spiral fracture to the other humerus, multiple fractured ribs in the healing stages, and a fracture of the upper left femur. The physician diagnosed the injuries as child abuse. The detective also spoke with Tabitha Nicole Wright, the child’s mother, at the hospital. Wright stated she left for work on July 3, 2026, at approximately 8:12 a.m. She said she swaddled the child in a blanket, laid her on the couch, and left her in the care of her grandmother and father, Christopher William Harrell. Wright stated she returned home from work at approximately 4:30 p.m. and found her 10-year-old son home alone. She said that when she went to get the child, she noticed the child was swaddled very tightly and that her arms were in “weird positions”. Wright reported the child’s left arm was behind her back, and her right arm was in an upward position. She said that when she unwrapped the child, the child’s arms fell to her side, and the child began screaming and crying. Wright stated she noticed bruising on the child’s arms and rushed her to Golden Valley Memorial Health Care. Wright reported that she called Harrell and asked what happened; Harrell told her he did not know. An investigator interviewed Harrell at the Benton County Jail later the same day. During the interview, Harrell allegedly admitted the child had been extremely fussy throughout the day on July 3, 2026. Harrell stated nothing would calm her down. Harrell said he went to place the child in her bassinet when her arm fell through his fingers. Harrell said he grabbed the child and heard a popping sound, “like knuckles cracking,” and the child began crying uncontrollably. Harrell stated he attempted to give the child a bath, but it did not soothe her. During the bath, Harrell said the child began to choke when he poured water over her head, and he had to perform CPR. Harrell also allegedly admitted to leaving the child at home with her 10-year-old brother because he was frustrated with the child crying all day and because his job had threatened to fire him if he did not report to work. On July 6, the detective returned to Children’s Mercy Hospital and conducted a follow-up interview with Wright. Before meeting with Wright, the detective spoke again with medical personnel about the child’s rib fractures. According to the probable cause statement, medical personnel reported that the rib fractures had occurred two or more weeks earlier. The arm and leg fractures were reported to have occurred within a few days. During the interview, Wright stated that approximately two weeks earlier, she and Harrell were involved in a verbal argument. Wright stated she was holding the child on her hip during the argument. She said Harrell attempted to take the child from her, but she did not allow it and pulled the child back in a “tug-of-war” type motion. Wright also stated the child was buckled into a car seat when Harrell attempted to take the car seat from her. Wright stated she pulled the car seat, with the child in it, back away from him. Wright and Harrell are now charged with abuse or neglect of a child – causing serious emotional or physical injury and endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree. On June 5, 2026, officers with the Boonville Police Department responded to an apartment building in Boonville regarding a noise complaint. Upon arrival, officers contacted three other residences in the same apartment building regarding loud music coming from Thaddeus Leonard Lewis’ apartment. During that process, a female resident approached an officer and reported alleged sexual misconduct by Lewis. The victim stated that at approximately 7 p.m., she and her 2-year-old grandson were walking from her apartment to her son’s apartment, which was directly across from Lewis’ apartment. She said she observed Lewis standing inside his apartment at a double window looking out. The victim stated Lewis was fully nude at the window. She reported seeing Lewis stroke his penis with his right hand and actively ejaculate on the interior window. When asked, the victim stated she clearly saw Lewis’ penis and was trying to protect her grandson from witnessing it. According to the probable cause statement, another officer reported that Lewis answered the door wearing only a shirt and holding his genitals while officers contacted him about the loud music. The officer also reported that Lewis appeared highly intoxicated. The victim also reported a previous incident that she said occurred around the end of March. She stated that while walking to her son’s apartment, she witnessed Lewis engaged in sexual intercourse with a white male while the door to Lewis’ apartment was completely open. The victim described both men as completely nude, with liquor bottles and loud music coming from the apartment. According to the probable cause statement, Lewis’ apartment door is directly across from the door of the son’s apartment, where the victim’s grandson also resides. On July 3, 2026, officers with the Columbia Police Department investigated a reported domestic assault at a residence in Columbia. According to the probable cause statement, the victim reported that Akil Lashun McKinney Jr. was in the kitchen of the residence playing cards when an argument began. The victim stated that during the argument, McKinney reached across the kitchen table, grabbed the victim, and threw the victim onto the kitchen floor. The victim reported that McKinney then got on top of the victim and punched the victim approximately five times with a closed fist. According to the victim, another person pulled McKinney off the victim. The victim stated that McKinney then pushed past that person, grabbed the victim by a wig that was glued to the victim’s head, pulled the victim to the ground by the wig, and the wig detached. The victim reported that McKinney was again pulled off the victim and escorted outside the residence. According to the victim, McKinney pushed past the person who removed him, kicked in the front door, and entered the residence again while attempting to reach the victim. The victim stated that McKinney was pulled out of the residence a second time. According to the victim, McKinney again pushed past the person outside, kicked the door open again, and attempted to reach the victim. The victim reported that because McKinney had already assaulted her and because she feared McKinney was going to assault her again, she sprayed McKinney with bear spray inside the kitchen as he approached. McKinney reportedly told the victim, “you’re gonna die,” during the incident. The victim described the pain as 8.75 out of 10 and stated the pain was worse than childbirth. The victim also stated the victim feared for her life and did not want to return to the residence. An officer reported observing damage to the front door of the residence. The officer also observed the victim’s wig on the floor of the residence, ripped in half. The victim estimated the damage to the front door at approximately $800 and the damage to the wig at approximately $230. The probable cause statement notes that McKinney does not live with the victim. The statement further notes that two children under the age of 5 were inside the residence during the incident, were exposed to bear spray, and had breathing issues. Medics responded to the scene. According to the probable cause statement, McKinney has been arrested for failure to appear and convicted of domestic assault. County Drive in Columbia for a reported inmate assault on a detention officer. According to the probable cause statement, the deputy learned that a detention officer had been injured after Joseph Steven Oetker allegedly strangled him and struck him with his knee inside B-Pod, cell 138. The detention officer was being treated at a local urgent care when the deputy observed his injuries. The deputy reported seeing three scratches on the officer's neck, including two near his esophagus, where the skin was red and abraded. The scratches appeared to have been caused by fingernails. The deputy also observed cotton stuffed inside the officer's nostrils that was soaked with blood. The officer had dried blood on the outside of his nose and on his shirt collar. The deputy also reported seeing a small scratch above the officer's right eyebrow near his temple. According to the probable cause statement, the officer stated he was collecting trays in B-Pod housing unit 133 when he opened a cell door, Oetker was on his hands and knees with his tray in front of him. The officer stated he attempted to retrieve the tray and told Oetker to return to the cell. According to the officer, Oetker did not move and was blocking the door. The officer reported pushing Oetker and again telling him to get back into the cell. The officer stated Oetker grabbed onto his vest and began choking him with his left hand. The officer reported that Oetker strangled him for approximately 10 seconds, restricted his breathing and caused him to fear for his life. The officer stated he then attempted to perform a single-leg takedown on Oetker. As the officer began securing Oetker's leg, Oetker allegedly struck him in the face with his knee. According to the probable cause statement, the strike caused the officer's nose to bleed. The officer reported becoming disoriented and lightheaded after being struck. Oetker was later detained by other detention officers. The deputy reported reviewing video footage of the incident and stated the footage corroborated the officer's account. On July 6, 2026, an officer with the Columbia Police Department was dispatched to the area of Corporate PL/Dead End in Columbia in reference to an assault. According to the probable cause statement, the officer arrived and spoke with Johnny Earl Crocitti. Crocitti told the officer he had seen the victim with items he believed belonged to him. He said he believed the victim had stolen the items from his camp. Crocitti reported that he went to the victim’s camp and began yelling at her. According to the probable cause statement, the victim was lying down in her tent while Crocitti stood near the entrance. The victim told the officer she had seen Crocitti on the street yelling at her. She stated she went to her camp and was inside her tent for approximately 10 minutes before Crocitti arrived. Crocitti told the officer he threw a bag of food at the victim. He also stated he pulled out a lighter and threatened to burn the tent down. He further stated that the victim pulled out a knife and attempted to swing at him. He reported that he kicked the victim in the face with his right leg. Crocitti also disclosed he may have stepped on the victim’s face two times while trying to get away. The victim reported that when Crocitti began attacking her, she attempted to grab his legs to stop him from kicking her. She reported that Crocitti threw plastic totes filled with items at her and struck her. The victim reported she was inside the tent during the entire assault. She stated the assault lasted approximately five to 10 minutes. The officer went to the victim’s tent and observed a shopping cart and a tote full of items lying on the tent. The victim stated Crocitti kicked her two times in the head and may have punched her at least one time. She stated she was definitely struck three times in the head. The officer observed bruising and redness on the right side of her face and a scratch on her chin. The victim reported her pain was a six out of 10 and said her jaw was stiffening, though she could move it gingerly. The probable cause statement notes that Crocitti does not have a permanent address and is homeless. The statement also alleges Crocitti poses a danger to the victim and the community. On July 11, 2026, deputies with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Highway 52 and S. Calico Road near Versailles in reference to a potentially suicidal subject. According to the probable cause statement, two reporting parties were attempting to transport Ronald Belcher III to the hospital. They reported Belcher was highly intoxicated by alcohol, making suicidal statements, acting violently, and attempting to jump from a moving vehicle. At approximately 3:09 a.m., deputies contacted a white Ford Escape occupied by Belcher and the reporting party in the rear seat. Belcher opened the rear driver-side door, and a deputy engaged him by maintaining control of Belcher’s head to prevent further harm to Belcher and the other occupant. Belcher then attempted to disarm the deputy of his firearm. Deputies reported Belcher was struck several times until he stopped attempting to disarm the deputy. A deputy deployed a TASER using a four-probe deployment, but neuromuscular incapacitation was not achieved. The report states that Belcher continued spitting at deputies and repeatedly yelled for officers to shoot him. After being handcuffed, deputies reported that Belcher continued making statements that he was going to escalate the situation by fighting or biting deputies. Belcher was then brought to a seated position so Mid-Mo Ambulance personnel could evaluate him at the scene. While seated, deputies reported Belcher grabbed a deputy multiple times and unsuccessfully attempted to flee from his position on the ground. According to the probable cause statement, Belcher had sustained an injury before law enforcement arrived. The report states a stick was protruding from the right side of his head near his ear. The total length of the stick was unknown, but approximately one inch was visible. Deputies reported Belcher refused to cooperate or be transported to the hospital while at the scene. According to the report, Belcher insisted he should be killed or incarcerated. Officers with the Versailles Police Department arrived to assist. A spit hood and leg shackles were applied without further incident, and Belcher was escorted to a patrol vehicle and transported to the jail. From the jail, transport officers took Belcher for a fit-for-confinement review and medical evaluation of his injury. The probable cause statement states the deputy sustained minor scratches to both wrists and forearms but did not require medical attention. On April 27, 2026, a deputy with the Miller County Sheriff's Office was working patrol in Tuscumbia when he responded to a reported assault in Miller County. According to the probable cause statement, the reporting party contacted the deputy and stated that Justin David Hartwick had assaulted the victim at an RV park in Eldon. The report states the incident occurred after Hartwick allegedly had his dogs loose at the RV park. The victim stated he informed Hartwick that RV park rules prohibited dogs from being off-leash or not penned. According to the probable cause statement, Hartwick then began cursing at the victim before the victim walked away. The victim reported that he then walked his dog down to a creek, and Hartwick followed him. An altercation occurred at the creek, and the victim was injured. When the deputy contacted the victim on April 27, the deputy observed that the victim’s eye was black and blue from bruising. The victim also reported that his shoulder was sore. The deputy documented the victim’s injuries on a department-issued body camera. The victim stated he had an appointment on April 28, 2026, in Columbia with a facial reconstruction specialist because of the severity of his injury. When asked why he did not contact law enforcement on April 26, the victim stated his lease for the RV campground said any contact with law enforcement would result in him being removed from the property. During the investigation, the reporting party advised the deputy that Hartwick was walking on Highway 52 in Eldon. The deputy located Hartwick and placed him in custody with properly secured, double-locked handcuffs. While placing Hartwick in handcuffs, the deputy reported that Hartwick’s hands were swollen and had various scratches on them. The deputy then advised Hartwick of his Miranda rights. Hartwick stated there were no witnesses and said the deputy needed to check cameras because they would show nothing. Hartwick did not wish to walk the deputy through the events of April 26. The deputy noted there would be no witnesses or camera footage because the assault occurred at a creek. Hartwick is now charged with assault in the first degree. Deputies responded to the residence at approximately 12:01 a.m. Harris was located inside a trailer on the property and agreed to come outside to speak with deputies peacefully. Once Harris exited the trailer, he was taken into custody without incident. Deputies advised Harris of his Miranda rights, which he stated he understood and agreed to waive by speaking with them. According to the probable cause statement, Harris voluntarily surrendered the homemade bomb to deputies, along with a Bearcat .22-caliber bolt-action rifle. Deputies reported the homemade bomb was located in a sink inside the trailer. It was contained in a clear container with a black lid and a blue-and-black label. Inside the container, deputies reported locating black powder, several .22-caliber hollow-point rounds, multiple fireworks with the fuses still attached, and a separate bag containing an unknown powder. Harris stated the unknown powder came from another firework he had disassembled. When asked about the Facebook posts, Harris admitted to creating and posting them. He also advised deputies that he was the primary user of the Facebook account with the username “Matthew Harris.” Harris was transported to the Morgan County Adult Detention Center without further incident and placed on a 24-hour hold. While the deputy was en route, dispatch advised that the reporting party stated the suspect had stopped at Kingdom Hall on Highway 52. Dispatch also advised that the reporting party continued driving and stopped in Cole Camp. According to the probable cause statement, the deputy arrived along with the Stover police chief and another deputy. Officers were unable to locate the motorcycle at that time. The deputy spoke by phone with the reporting party, who said she had pulled into the Cole Camp Police Department because she feared for her safety. She reported that after she arrived there, she saw the motorcycles drive past. Deputies requested that dispatch notify Cole Camp and Benton County authorities to stop and hold the motorcyclists. The reporting party described two white men on motorcycles. She said the suspect who pointed the firearm was a white man riding a dark gray motorcycle with hard storage compartments. She described the suspect as wearing a do-rag and said he had a gray or silver semi-automatic pistol with a black ejector area. She said another white man was riding with him on a blue motorcycle, but was not involved in the incident. The reporting party said she, her husband, and their three juvenile children had been driving through Stover when they attempted to pass the motorcycles. She reported that the motorcycle driver sped up, making it difficult to pass. After they passed, she said the motorcyclist sped up again and began yelling while traveling beside her vehicle. She said the motorcyclist then drew a gray or silver pistol and pointed it at her and her family. She said she was not sure whether shots had been fired, checked her vehicle, and found no damage. She said no one had been injured. She reported that the suspect pulled into the Kingdom Hall church on Highway 52, got off his motorcycle, and was yelling and angry. She said she continued to Cole Camp because she feared for her life and the lives of her family. Dispatch later advised that Cole Camp authorities were detaining two motorcycles at a Casey’s gas station in Cole Camp. A deputy arrived and observed that the motorcycles matched the reporting party’s description. The deputy contacted Robert Daniel Riggs, who matched the suspect description and was wearing a yellow do-rag. Riggs told the deputy that he had been riding through Stover when a white truck tried to pass him and almost hit him. Riggs stated that he pulled his pistol from its holster while riding beside the white vehicle. He said he did not fire any shots and did not point the firearm at anyone. Riggs stated that he “got his point across” and the vehicle that almost hit him “backed off”. The victim stated Payne Bradey Donne Bohling, who resided with the victim, had broken the victim’s phone, valued at approximately $900, by striking it against the edge of a kitchen counter three to four times. The victim stated the phone was broken and bent. The victim stated Bohling then retrieved a butcher knife from a kitchen drawer and came toward them in a threatening manner while holding it. The victim stated they used the distance between them to run out the back door because they feared for their life. According to the probable cause statement, the victim’s phone was found in the kitchen trash under a trash bag. The phone was collected and submitted into evidence. The victim stated Bohling had three large butcher knives with wooden handles. Officers located all three knives in a kitchen drawer. Two were at the bottom of the drawer under multiple utensils, and the third was on top of other utensils. Officers collected the knife that the victim believed Bohling had used to threaten him. An officer also collected a flash drive containing surveillance video from a camera that showed the backyard of the residence. On June 15, 2026, detectives with the Morgan County Sheriff's Office were notified of a sexual assault that occurred in Versailles. Hospital staff at Mary’s in Jefferson City reported that the victim disclosed she had been raped by her father, Ronald Lee Brown Jr. A sexual assault examination occurred, and the staff advised deputies they did not locate any evidence of injury to the victim’s vaginal area. The staff further advised that the victim disclosed that her father inserted his fingers and penis into her vagina. Deputies detained Ronald and transported him to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office for questioning. While speaking with Ronald, Ronald admitted to taking two Ecstasy pills along with drinking half a fifth of tequila earlier in the morning. Ronald stated he knew he had done something to the victim but did not remember what. Ronald later admitted to sticking his fingers in the victim’s vagina before engaging in sexual intercourse. Ronald said he may have mistaken the victim for his girlfriend. Deputies noted Ronald’s girlfriend lives in Chicago, IL. Ronald further stated he believed the person he was engaging in sexual acts with was asleep and only stopped after ejaculating. Ronald stated that after waking up and realizing what he had done, he called in to work, spoke with his grandpa, and called to tell his girlfriend what he had done. Ronald also reportedly attempted to speak with the victim, but she was upset and refused to speak with him. Ronald stated he did not remember having any other physical sexual contact with the victim. On June 26, 2026, investigators with the Missouri State Fire Marshal's Office and local emergency personnel responded to a property in Miller County in reference to two structure fires. According to the probable cause statement, the property contained a garage and a small tiny home located about 40 feet to the east. A tenant reported seeing Previn Tauer arrive at the property shortly before the fires were discovered. The tenant told investigators he observed Tauer exit the garage, return to his vehicle, and leave the property. Within minutes of Tauer's departure, smoke and flames were seen coming from inside the garage. Fire investigators determined the garage fire originated on a tabletop. The investigation found no accidental or natural source of ignition, including electrical or mechanical causes, and the fire was classified as incendiary, meaning it was intentionally set. Investigators also examined a second fire inside the tiny home. The property owner reported opening the door to enter the structure and encountering heavy black smoke and visible flames. A preliminary origin-and-cause investigation found no accidental or natural ignition sources inside the tiny home, and investigators concluded the circumstances were consistent with an intentionally set fire. The probable cause statement further alleges that beginning in May 2026, Previn Tauer made repeated death threats toward the property owner. As a result, an ex parte order of protection was issued in June 2026 prohibiting Tauer from being at or near the property. Shortly after the fires were reported, officers located and contacted Tauer. According to investigators, officers detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverages and additional odors consistent with fire-related residues on his clothing. Officers also found multiple lighters in his possession that were capable of igniting combustible materials. Based on the fire scene examination, eyewitness observations, the existence of two separate intentionally set fires, the reported threats, the alleged violation of the active order of protection, and evidence collected during the investigation, investigators believe there is probable cause to believe Previn Tauer knowingly set or caused both fires. On June 18, 2026, the mother of a 5-year-old female contacted the Miller County Sheriff’s Office to report that her daughter had been sexually abused by Dalton Gregory Lee. The mother reported that her child disclosed to her babysitter that she had “licked Dalton’s pee-pee”. When questioned further, the child stated she saw Dalton’s penis while he was watching TikTok in his room. She further disclosed that Dalton placed her hands on his penis and his finger inside her vagina. She stated that when she told Dalton it hurt, he did not stop until after “white nasty stuff” came out of his penis. The victim was interviewed at Kids’ Harbor Child Advocacy Center in Osage Beach on June 22. During that interview, the child disclosed that Dalton had removed her clothing while they were at his residence in his bedroom. Dalton’s clothing was also removed. The victim stated Dalton then touched her vagina, causing her pain, and made her touch and lick his penis. She reported that “white stuff” came out onto her arm, and Dalton used a shirt to wipe it off. She further reported that Dalton showed her videos of naked boys and girls and made her pinky promise not to tell anyone. Dalton was arrested at his residence and transported to the Miller County Adult Detention Center. During an interview, Dalton repeatedly denied the allegations. Dalton reported the child had a crush on him and made comments about wanting to see him naked. Dalton later admitted he has a severe pornography addiction and had been watching pornography while the victim and his daughter played outside. Dalton stated the victim came into the room, jumped on the bed, saw the pornography, and asked him about it. Dalton said he told the victim it was “grown-up sex”. Dalton reported he then had the victim lie down next to him and watch the pornography. Dalton further stated his pants were down, his penis was exposed, and he asked the victim to rub his penis before it progressed from there. Dalton admitted to telling the victim not to tell anyone and said it would never happen again. In a follow-up interview, Dalton admitted to touching and rubbing the victim’s vagina. Dalton reported it happened in his room with the door locked while his daughter remained outside. He further admitted to telling the victim not to say anything and made a pinky promise. On June 26, 2026, deputies with the Johnson County, Missouri, Sheriff's Office responded to a rural Warrensburg residence in reference to a domestic disturbance in progress. According to the probable cause statement, the victim reported that her husband, Warren Andrew Jackson, had been driving a vehicle around the property while intoxicated. When the victim confronted Jackson, an argument ensued. The victim said Jackson entered the residence and grabbed the victim by the throat with his right hand, applying pressure that made it difficult for the victim to breathe. Jackson then allegedly pushed the victim against a wall, causing the victim's head to strike the wall and resulting in a welt on the back left side of the victim's head. An investigator later observed bruising on the victim's neck and chin. The report states Jackson then left the residence and entered a nearby building housing his firearms business, identified as WA Jackson Firearms, approximately 30 feet north of the home. While outside, deputies heard a gunshot coming from inside the building. Repeated attempts to contact Jackson by cellphone, verbal commands, and the patrol vehicle's PA system were unsuccessful. After deputies deployed a drone into the building, they established communication with Jackson. Investigators allege Jackson then fired approximately six gunshots from inside the building, refused repeated commands to exit, and started a fire while remaining inside. A short time later, Jackson exited the building and was taken into custody. The fire destroyed the business building, along with the drone that had been deployed inside. Upon arrival, officers observed dark discoloration beneath the victim's left eye and slight redness on her neck. The victim was crying and reported she was in pain. The victim stated she had returned home from the Lake of the Ozarks at approximately 1 a.m. She said Johnston had been sleeping on her couch with permission while she intended to sleep in her bedroom. According to the victim, Johnston followed her into the bedroom and began arguing with her about the time she returned home. The victim reported that the next thing she knew, she was on the bed, and Johnston was on top of her, telling her to "shut the fuck up," then struck her several times in the face. She stated she pleaded with him to stop, telling him she was afraid for her life and had children. The victim reported that Johnston then placed his hands around her neck and strangled her, preventing her from speaking or screaming. She stated her vision went black before he released his grip, allowing her to breathe again. The victim further reported that Johnston strangled her a second time when she attempted to call the police. After the victim contacted emergency dispatchers, Johnston allegedly asked her not to speak with law enforcement and offered to pay her money if she did not report what had occurred. Johnston then left the residence. The victim contacted a neighbor, who remained with her until officers arrived. Following a request from Sedalia police, Johnson County Sheriff's Office deputies located Johnston while he was driving toward Warrensburg and conducted a stop-and-hold. A county-line transfer was completed, and Johnston was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and held for 24 hours. On March 25, 2026, detectives with the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force and the Pettis County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence in Sedalia to execute a narcotics search warrant. At approximately 11:35 a.m., detectives observed the target of the search warrant, Kayla L Leach, arrive at the residence in a vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted by detectives, and Leach was taken into custody. She was provided a copy of the search warrant and advised of her Miranda rights. Leach was allowed to take a child with her into the home. During the search of the residence, detectives reported locating a 12-gauge JC Higgins Model 20 shotgun loaded with one round in the chamber and additional rounds in the firearm, along with an H&R Arms Victor .32-caliber revolver. Investigators also located controlled substances and drug-related items throughout the residence, including cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, methamphetamine, ecstasy, alprazolam tablets, oxycodone tablets, marijuana, marijuana wax, THC concentrate, digital scales, packaging materials, ammunition, and approximately $4,025 stored in a safe. According to the probable cause statement, cocaine was located in a child's playroom, marijuana was found with children's clothing, and the loaded shotgun was leaning against a wall in an open bedroom where the child could have accessed it. A Child Services Investigation referral was completed and provided to the Missouri Division of Family Services. Based on the quantity of suspected controlled substances, the presence of digital scales, packaging materials, cash in multiple denominations, and the detective's training and experience, investigators stated they believed Leach was distributing marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, and oxycodone from the residence. The probable cause statement also noted that Leach had a prior Pettis County conviction for possession of a controlled substance in 2021, for which she received a suspended imposition of sentence. On June 24, 2026, officers with the Sedalia Police Department responded to Vermont Park in reference to a physical and verbal disturbance. Upon arrival, officers contacted the suspect, Jeffrey "Jeff" Stoney. Officers observed that Stoney was acting erratically and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or both. He had been sprayed with pepper spray during an altercation at the park and was attempting to wipe it from his face. Personnel with the Pettis County Ambulance District provided medical assistance for the effects of the pepper spray and treated several open wounds to his head. During the investigation, officers spoke with Witness 1, who stated that Witness 2 had contacted her and reported that Stoney was at the park behaving strangely, causing problems with others, and asking juvenile girls their ages. Witness 1 stated she went to the park and attempted to persuade Stoney to leave. Officers then interviewed Witness 2 and Witness 3. Witness 2 stated there were two separate altercations involving Stoney. According to Witness 2, Stoney began causing problems shortly after arriving at the park and was assaulted by a large group of people who left before officers arrived. Witness 2 stated that after the initial altercation, Stoney approached her and two friends, making statements including, "I know your parents," "I know what you did," and "I know the bad things you've done." Witness 2 stated neither she nor her friends knew Stoney or understood the statements he was making. Witness 3 told officers he arrived after the initial altercation. He stated he repeatedly instructed Stoney to leave the park. According to Witness 3, Stoney briefly got into his vehicle, moved it, then exited and approached him in an aggressive manner. Witness 3 stated he repeatedly told Stoney to back away, but Stoney continued advancing, prompting Witness 3 to punch him in the face. Witness 2 stated she witnessed the confrontation and pepper-sprayed Stoney. Witness 3 reported that Stoney never struck or punched him during the incident. Witness 2 stated she could not identify any of the individuals involved in the earlier assault on Stoney. Following the investigation, officers requested that Stoney's vehicle be towed. Officers determined that Stoney is a registered sex offender whose registration restrictions prohibit him from being present in a public park. After receiving medical treatment and being cleared for confinement at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Stoney was placed under arrest. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a male subject at the front door. The male appeared confused about the officers' presence and was holding a blood-covered towel over an injury to his hand. He initially claimed the injury resulted from a cooking accident. While speaking with the male, officers observed numerous household items scattered across the floor inside the residence. The male then silently requested to speak with officers outside the home. Outside, the male stated that Amanda Lynn Hendzel had been throwing items from the kitchen counter, including a knife block, and that a knife caused the injury to his hand. He said she had been throwing objects at him during an argument. When questioned about reported threats, he stated Hendzel had not threatened the child but had made threats toward him that he did not wish to discuss. While another officer searched the residence for Hendzel, officers observed blood on the kitchen floor and multiple knives scattered among other displaced items. Hendzel was eventually located outside near the rear of the residence. When questioned, Hendzel denied that anything had happened and stated she was outside with her dog because the male subject gets angry over everything. She claimed he had disabled the battery in her vehicle and would not allow her to leave the residence. She also stated that his hand injury occurred while cooking. Officers observed a small amount of blood on Hendzel's left hand between her thumb and palm. Hendzel was taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail. After being advised of her Miranda rights, she stated that she understood them and completed a written statement. In that statement, she alleged the male subject suffered from mental health issues and was frequently suicidal. She claimed he was responsible for throwing items throughout the residence, that his hand injury occurred while he was holding a knife, and that the blood on her hand resulted from attempting to prevent him from harming himself. While Hendzel was being processed at the jail, officers continued their investigation at the residence. The male subject reported the incident began after an argument over not replying to a text message in a timely manner while he was at work. He stated he later attempted to calm the situation by bringing Hendzel food, but the argument escalated when she was dissatisfied with it. According to him, Hendzel began throwing household items, including destroying a kitchen surveillance camera, before throwing a knife block that caused the injury to his hand. He stated he believed Wendzel’s behavior was due to her menstrual cycle and that she would be fine once it started. During the investigation, officers reviewed video recordings from the victim’s phone. According to the investigating officer, the videos showed Hendzel handling knives while making threats to kill the victim. The officer also reported that the videos depicted Hendzel threatening that the victim would not survive if police became involved. After leaving the gas station and traveling to the Green Brier low-water crossing, the juvenile observed a dark-colored passenger car, which she recognized as the vehicle occupied by Steele and the juvenile slowly approached their location. According to the juvenile, Steele exited the vehicle and shouted, “Where’s [juvenile’s name] ?” After she responded, Steele approached her and began threatening to kill her. When she answered the door, she observed John Nevels standing on her porch wearing only boxer shorts. The report states Nevels intentionally exposed his genitals to her. The victim provided officers with security camera footage showing Nevels walking toward her residence wearing only boxer shorts. Although the camera did not capture the front porch, she identified Nevels as her neighbor who lived across the street. She completed a written statement and requested criminal prosecution. Officers responded to Nevels' residence and made contact with him. According to the report, he displayed signs of intoxication and admitted to consuming alcohol. On June 25, 2026, at approximately 6:16 a.m., officers with the Sedalia Police Department were dispatched to Walmart, 3201 Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a reported shoplifting incident. According to court documents, Walmart Asset Protection reported that Jonathan Rockett allegedly selected a bottle of alcohol valued at $23.87 and concealed it inside a backpack before attempting to leave the store without paying. When confronted by asset protection, Rockett allegedly refused to surrender the merchandise and stated, "Call the police, they won't catch me," before leaving the business. The responding officer reported immediately recognizing Rockett from prior law enforcement contacts, including two previous arrests. Asset Protection provided surveillance video and a written statement documenting the incident through the Auror reporting system. Investigators also learned Rockett had previously been issued a non-expiring trespass notice from the same Walmart following a separate shoplifting incident on July 11, 2025, during which he allegedly stole beer and underwear. On Nov. 28, 2023, officers with the Sedalia Police Department responded to a reported burglary at a residence in the 1100 block of East 3rd Street. The homeowner returned to find a broken window, damage to a door, and numerous collectible items missing from inside the residence. Investigators determined the damage to the home totaled $1,017.91, while the stolen collectibles were valued at $4,486.45. A few days later, on Dec. 1, 2023, the victim discovered what appeared to be dried blood on the box of a Star Wars collectible that had been handled during the burglary. Officers collected the portion of the box containing the suspected blood and submitted it to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Laboratory for DNA analysis. More than two years later, on April 6, 2026, investigators received a DNA hit identifying the blood as belonging to Fredrick "Freddy" T. Curry. According to court documents, the victim told detectives he did not know Curry and said there was no legitimate reason Curry's blood would have been inside his residence. Detectives later contacted Curry about the investigation. According to the probable cause statement, Curry initially claimed he had been incarcerated during the time of the burglary. However, investigators checked Missouri Department of Corrections records and reported that Curry had actually been released to probation and parole in September 2022 and did not return to prison until June 2024, placing him out of custody when the burglary occurred. On April 16, 2026, Curry voluntarily came to the Sedalia Police Department to speak with investigators. Detectives said they showed him photographs of the burglarized residence, explained the investigation, and presented him with the Missouri State Highway Patrol DNA laboratory report linking the blood recovered at the scene to him. Before leaving, investigators served Curry with a previously authorized search warrant to obtain a fresh DNA sample through a buccal swab. Court documents state Curry cooperated with the collection. On June 11, 2026, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Laboratory issued a certified report concluding that the DNA profile developed from the blood recovered at the burglary scene was consistent with the DNA profile obtained from Curry's buccal swab. On May 17, 2026, deputies with the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Missouri State Fairgrounds Mathewson Exhibition Center in Sedalia in reference to an assault reported during Smith-Cotton High School graduation practice. At approximately 10:50 a.m., the Smith-Cotton High School Principal contacted law enforcement and requested officers respond to the Mathewson Exhibition Center, located at 2503 W. 16th Street, after an incident disrupted graduation practice. The principal stated he was addressing graduating students from the stage when he heard a male subject yelling from the upper-level seating area. The principal observed the subject, later identified as Anthony “Tony” Bottcher, standing near a doorway and instructed him over the microphone to leave the premises. According to the principal, Bottcher responded by yelling, “Suck my d*ck”. The principal stated that a female subject approached Bottcher from behind and appeared to attempt to escort him from the area. The principal reported that Bottcher then struck the female subject in the face with his fist and threw her to the ground. Administrative staff responded after hearing the female subject yelling for help, and Bottcher fled the building. Upon arrival, a Sedalia Police Department Officer was speaking with the victim. The officer advised that the victim stated Bottcher struck her in the face, but she did not wish to pursue charges at that time. Bottcher’s girlfriend denied making the statement when questioned by law enforcement. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim, who appeared intoxicated and was extremely emotional. Deputies observed blood coming from the victim’s right nostril, marks on the same side of her nose consistent with her glasses striking her face, and scrapes on her left elbow area that appeared consistent with a fall. When asked whether the incident had become physical, the victim initially gave conflicting responses before ultimately stating that Brewington had punched her before leaving the residence. Deputies photographed the victim’s injuries. The victim declined to provide a written statement. On May 16, 2026, deputies made contact with Brewington. Main St. in Green Ridge in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies were met by three juveniles who stated they had been walking past a residence when they overheard arguing from inside the residence. The juveniles reported that a male subject, later identified as Gary Douglas Horn, came outside and told them, “You better get the fuck out of here” and “I’ve got my shotgun for you if you want to see it.” According to the juveniles, they were walking on the opposite side of the roadway and had not spoken to Horn or engaged in any conduct that would have prompted the threats. Deputies observed the juveniles to be visibly upset and suffering emotional distress. The juveniles stated they ran from the area because of the threats involving a firearm. Deputies later made contact with Gary Horn. Another juvenile at the residence with Horn provided a statement consistent with the accounts given by the three juveniles, stating that the juveniles walking past the residence did not engage in any altercation or argument with Horn prior to the incident. Based on the investigation, deputies determined Horn allegedly made unprovoked threats involving a firearm toward the three juveniles, causing emotional distress and prompting them to flee the area. On May 7, 2026, officers with the Sedalia Police Department responded to the 2400 block of Bristol Lane in reference to a property damage incident involving a firearm. Officers were advised that Gunnar Aaron Fletcher-Zaremba had allegedly damaged a vehicle while armed with a rifle. The victim reported that she and another individual went to Zaremba’s residence to check on his well-being after he reportedly made suicidal comments. According to the victim, Zaremba stated he was “fitting to crash out” and intended to “fuck shit up.” The victim stated that Zaremba exited the residence carrying a rifle described as having a light wooden color with a black tip and jumped onto the hood of her black 2015 Ford Taurus. The victim reported that Zaremba used the rifle to break the driver's side mirror on her car. She stated that Zaremba did not verbally threaten her with the firearm, but she believed he brought it outside to damage the vehicle. The victim further stated that Zaremba caused multiple scratches to the hood when jumping on the vehicle. She estimated the total damage to the mirror and hood was at least $1,000. The victim and the other individual then left the area and drove to a safe location. Officers later located broken mirror pieces in the roadway near the residence on Bristol Lane. The victim stated she wished to assist in the prosecution and expressed concern for her safety because Zaremba knew where she lived. Officers noted that Zaremba was on probation and parole for possession of a controlled substance and has a criminal history, including resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful use or possession of a weapon, abandonment of a corpse, driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, and stealing. On May 20, 2026, at approximately 10:09 p.m., an officer conducted an area check in the 2000 block of Bristol Lane while aware that Zaremba had an active felony warrant for his arrest. Upon arriving in the area, the officer observed a vehicle pull up and park in front of Zaremba’s residence on Bristol Lane. Using a patrol vehicle floodlight, the officer identified Zaremba seated in the passenger seat of the vehicle. As the officer exited the patrol vehicle, Zaremba exited the vehicle and ran toward the residence. The officer advised Zaremba that he had a warrant and ordered him to stop, but Zaremba continued inside the residence and locked the door. Additional officers arrived and surrounded the residence while commands were issued over a patrol vehicle PA system. Zaremba exited the residence with his hands raised and complied with commands to lie on the ground. He was taken into custody without further incident and secured in handcuffs before being placed in a patrol vehicle. On May 9, 2026, officers with the Columbia Police Department responded to a residence in reference to a reported domestic assault. Dispatch advised that a physical altercation had occurred. Officers arrived at approximately 11:26 p.m. and made contact with the victim. The victim stated that Chad Nathan Jamerson assaulted both her and a juvenile victim following a verbal altercation prior to law enforcement’s arrival. According to the victim, she had been lying in bed when Jamerson stood beside the bed, placed his hands around her throat, and began strangling her. The victim reported difficulty breathing during the assault and said Jamerson strangled her for approximately one minute before punching her in the face after releasing her throat. She stated Jamerson was shaking her while strangling her. Officers observed a cut and blood on the victim’s lip, bruising on the inner lip, and swelling on the left side of her face. The victim told officers she feared Jamerson would continue assaulting her. The victim also stated that two juveniles witnessed the altercation and that one juvenile attempted to intervene. Officers then made contact with the juvenile victim, who stated they observed Jamerson standing above the victim with his hands around her throat and believed Jamerson had been choking her. The juvenile stated they entered the bedroom and attempted to stop the assault, at which point they and Jamerson became involved in a physical altercation. The juvenile reported that punches were exchanged for approximately 15 seconds before the fight stopped. The juvenile further stated that Jamerson later approached them again, began yelling, and raised a closed fist toward them. The juvenile said the punches from Jamerson were unwanted. A second juvenile witness told officers they observed Jamerson and the juvenile victim fighting multiple times and attempted to console the victim while the altercation occurred inside the bedroom. Officers noted in the probable cause statement that Jamerson reportedly had connections to Flint, Michigan, and is a senior pastor at Kingdom Life Church in Sedalia, Missouri, but has no known friends or family contacts in Columbia, according to the victim. On April 29, 2026, officers with the Columbia Police Department responded to the Columbia Public Library at 100 W. Broadway in reference to a report of sexual misconduct. Boone County Joint Communications received a report that a male had exposed his erect genitalia inside the library. The victim told officers she observed a male with his pants down and his penis fully erect. The victim stated she did not observe any sexually gratifying acts but believed the male may have engaged in such acts to obtain the erection. The victim reported that she was offended by the exposure of the male’s genitalia. Library staff provided surveillance footage showing the suspect leaving the library wearing a black hat, gray Bass Pro Shops sweatshirt and black sweatpants. The suspect was observed leaving in an older-model white Chevrolet vehicle. Investigators identified the vehicle through Flock camera footage. Records showed the vehicle was registered to Dennis Eugene Allen Jr. Investigators determined Allen’s driver’s license photograph matched the individual seen on the library surveillance footage. Later that day, Allen was stopped while driving the vehicle by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and interviewed. Allen confirmed he had been at the Columbia Public Library on April 29, 2026, and stated he was wearing the same clothing seen on the security footage. Allen told investigators there had been a misunderstanding and that he had been adjusting himself. He stated someone may have observed him doing so. Allen is now charged with sexual misconduct in the first degree and knowingly operating a motor vehicle without insurance – owned by another. On May 17, 2026, deputies with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office responded to South Old Plank Road at the Providence Landing Perche Creek Access in reference to a suspicious object found in the water. According to court records, a boater reported finding a City of Columbia trash bin floating in Perche Creek and noted a strong odor of decomposition. Deputies responded to the area and accompanied the boater to the location of the bin. The bin was moved to the bank and opened, revealing the body of an adult human inside. Investigators subsequently obtained surveillance images showing a red Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck traveling on Burr Oak Road near Star School Road on May 11, 2026, entering the Eagle Bluffs Conservation Area. The images showed a City of Columbia trash bin lying on its back in the bed of the truck. Investigators noted that the recovered trash bin containing the body had similar unique characteristics to the bin visible in the surveillance images and determined the recovered bin was consistent with the one observed in the truck bed. On May 18, 2026, at approximately 8:30 p.m., law enforcement conducted a traffic stop involving the red Chevrolet S-10 pickup. Andrew Berry Acton was identified as the driver. Investigators reported that Acton appeared similar to the driver depicted in the surveillance images. During a post-Miranda interview, Acton told investigators he could not remember details of May 11, 2026, other than that he drove around throughout the day. Investigators stated that despite being given multiple opportunities to address the allegations, Acton did not deny disposing of the trash bin containing the body. Court documents also allege that between Oct. 1, 2025, and May 10, 2026, in Boone County, he knowingly or purposely caused the death of the victim by strangulation or smothering. On May 20, 2026, officers with the Boonville Police Department were waved down by a female on Gmelich Street near Pendelton Road. The woman reported that Treveon Lee Coleman had assaulted her at his apartment. The woman stated that Coleman grabbed her by the hair, pulled her to the ground, and dragged her across a room. She reported that while she was on the ground, Coleman wrapped an arm around her neck and applied pressure, causing her difficulty breathing and leading her to believe she was going to die. The woman further reported that before the choking incident, she had been screaming for help and that Coleman instructed another unidentified female present to shut the windows. She alleged that Coleman and the unidentified female held her against her will, took her cellular phone, and compelled her to provide the device password so they could search its contents. The woman told officers that Coleman took $700 in cash from her purse. She noticed the unidentified female was asleep on the bed with her money and went to grab it, but Coleman stopped her. She advised officers that Coleman may have been armed during the incident, although she stated she never saw a firearm and only observed what she described as a “clip”. She reported that she and Coleman had been dating for approximately five months. During a formal interview, the woman stated that the strangulation lasted approximately two to three minutes. She reported feeling suffocated, being unable to speak, and believing she was close to losing consciousness. Officers documented injuries that were described as consistent with the reported incident, including scratches and redness around the neck, a bruise on the chin, scratches on the left wrist, and redness on the right elbow. The woman rated the pressure applied during the choking as a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. The report states that officers made two separate attempts to contact Coleman at his residence, but he did not answer the door. A criminal history check indicated a prior second-degree domestic assault conviction dated Dec. 3, 2024, for which Coleman was reported to still be on probation. On May 25, 2026, officers with the Fulton Police Department responded to the 800 block of Court Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. According to the probable cause statement, dispatch advised officers that the reporting person had left a residence in the 800 block of Court Street and reported that Robert Lee Pittman was inside the residence holding a knife. The reporting person told dispatch they were unsure whether Pittman intended to kill them or another individual. An officer responded to an alternate location and contacted the reporting person. The reporting person stated Pittman had entered the apartment and displayed a butcher knife while making verbal threats to kill the reporting person and/or another individual. The reporting person said they persuaded Pittman to leave the apartment to get a soda and then fled the residence after he departed. Court records cited in the complaint indicate the Fulton Police Department had responded to the same residence on May 22, 2026, regarding a residential burglary complaint involving Pittman. That investigation resulted in an extended search that included a K-9 track and searches at multiple locations in the city, but Pittman was not located. Officers later conducted a follow-up contact at the residence on May 24, 2026. The complaint states that within approximately 24 hours of that contact, Pittman returned to the residence and allegedly committed the new offenses. The probable cause statement also notes prior Callaway County convictions for Pittman, including resisting or interfering with arrest in 2010, third-degree domestic assault in 2012, first-degree burglary, tampering with a victim in a felony prosecution, first-degree domestic assault, and attempted first-degree arson in 2020, and resisting or interfering with arrest for a felony in April 2026. On May 25, 2026, deputies with the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence near Millersburg in reference to a domestic disturbance. According to court records, Callaway County Joint Communications received a report from a witness who stated that Scott Christopher John Ethan Wayman was striking the victim. Deputies were dispatched to the residence to investigate. Upon arrival, a deputy contacted the witness, who stated she and Wayman lived together and were involved in a romantic relationship. The witness reported that Wayman had consumed several shots of alcohol, became intoxicated, and slapped her on the right side of the face with an open hand, causing pain. The victim told deputies that Wayman pushed her to the ground with both hands, causing her to fall and injure the left side of her abdomen. Due to her injuries, emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and transported her to a hospital for treatment. The victim further reported that Wayman punched her in the mouth with a closed fist, causing pain and bleeding. The deputy observed a fresh laceration on the victim’s lower lip with visible blood present. She stated that Wayman forced her head downward toward her chest, restricting her ability to breathe. She reported feeling as though she was being choked and said the pressure caused her to become lightheaded and believe she was about to lose consciousness. The victim also advised deputies that she was the protected party in a full order of protection issued in Iowa and that Wayman was the respondent. Deputies confirmed the order was active and prohibited Wayman from assaulting, threatening, abusing, harassing, following, interfering with, or stalking the protected person. On May 30, 2026, deputies with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office responded to a rural address near Centerview in reference to a reported domestic dispute. According to the probable cause statement, deputies arrived and observed Christian Jay Weaver yelling at the victim. After separating the parties, deputies observed severe bruising on the victim's face, neck, elbow, and wrist. The victim reported being struck as well as choked while driving in the vehicle. A witness also told deputies the victim had been struck while inside the vehicle. After receiving the Miranda warning, Weaver stated that the victim had not caused any injuries to him during the altercation but declined to discuss the injuries observed on the victim. Deputies noted that Weaver had previously assaulted the victim and was currently on probation for that assault. Weaver is now charged with second-degree assault. On May 29, 2026, deputies with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a rural address near Warrensburg in reference to an assault. According to the probable cause statement, the victim arrived at a reporting party’s residence in distress, falling in the driveway and hyperventilating. The victim reported possible broken ribs, a broken leg, bruising, and head pain severe enough to affect memory. The reporting party told deputies that the victim and Matthew Jordan Overall were involved in a romantic relationship and had been drinking. While deputies were on scene, the reporting party received a phone call from Overall through Snapchat. The call was placed on speaker, and Overall stated that he was not going to jail and that no one would be able to find him. He repeatedly asked about the location of his firearm, allegedly taken by the victim. Overall also stated that if he had the firearm, no one would catch him, and he would not run. He further stated that once law enforcement spoke with the victim and learned the victim had pinned him down [sic], he would be arrested, and law enforcement would have to kill him. A second witness later arrived on scene to grab Overall’s dog and take it to him. The witness contacted Overall by telephone, allowing deputies to speak with him. The deputy arranged to meet Overall at the Casey’s convenience store located at 709 W. McPherson in Knob Noster. During the meeting, Overall stated that he and the victim had been involved in a physical altercation concerning their dog. He said the victim struck him and that he restrained the victim on the ground in self-defense. Overall stated he grabbed the victim’s legs while the victim was kicking and holding his hair. When asked about bruising on the victim’s neck, Overall declined to continue speaking with deputies. Meanwhile, another deputy interviewed the victim at Western Missouri Medical Center. The victim stated that an argument over the dog escalated after the victim playfully struck Overall with a pillow. The victim reported that Overall grabbed the victim by the neck, and after the victim pushed him away, Overall shoved the victim to the ground. The victim stated that Overall came down forcefully, injuring the victim’s left leg, and then placed both hands around the victim’s neck for approximately 30 seconds while on top of the victim. The victim reported neck pain, difficulty breathing, and feeling as though they would lose consciousness. The victim stated that after kicking Overall away, Overall grabbed the victim by the ankles and dragged the victim out of the residence. Deputies documented injuries, including a large scratch extending from the back of the victim’s neck to the chest, a minor forehead laceration, abrasions on the back consistent with being dragged, multiple red marks on the neck consistent with strangulation, and a broken fingernail. On May 26, 2026, deputies with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1800 block of Ohio Street in Clinton in reference to an assault investigation involving Derrick Wayne Stover. According to the probable cause statement, the incident began while the victim was driving east on Highway 7 at approximately 60 mph. An argument between the victim and Derrick Wayne Stover became physical while the vehicle was in motion. The victim reported that she received a text message from her mother, which caused Stover to become angry. She stated that Stover grabbed her phone and threw it out of the passenger-side window. The victim stated she yelled at Stover, prompting him to strike the vehicle’s dashboard, breaking an air vent. She reported that Stover then grabbed her by the throat so she would “Shut the fuck up”, causing her to fear she would lose consciousness. The victim stated she was able to remove his hand from her neck before losing airflow. She further reported that shortly before the choking incident, Stover struck her arm with an open hand. Deputies observed red marks on the victim’s throat that were described as consistent with finger marks. Deputies photographed the injuries, and the victim stated she feared for her life because of Stover’s actions. After being advised of his Miranda rights, Stover denied choking the victim or placing his hand around her neck. He stated he may have touched her neck area while pushing her arm away from scratching his face. The probable cause statement noted that Stover had previously been arrested on April 21, 2026, in connection with a Clinton Municipal assault allegation involving the same victim, though he was later cited and released by the Clinton Police Department. During a follow-up interview at the victim’s residence, the victim explained that she initially did not want to pursue charges but later decided she wanted charges filed. She stated she had been afraid to do so while Stover was present. Deputies photographed her injuries again in better lighting conditions. The victim was observed to have severe bruising and swelling on her right wrist extending to her fingers. She reported the injuries occurred while attempting to fight off Stover during the altercation. Deputies requested medical assistance, and Golden Valley EMS transported the victim to a hospital for treatment. Stover is now charged with second-degree assault. On May 7, 2026, in Cass County, Missouri, John David Sprinkles Jr. was alleged to have engaged in conduct that resulted in multiple criminal charges. The complaint alleges that, without good cause, Sprinkle made inappropriate and sexual comments to the victim to cause emotional distress and, in doing so, caused the victim to suffer emotional distress. The complaint also alleges that Sprinkles committed second-degree sexual abuse by having sexual contact with the victim for the purpose of arousing or gratifying sexual desire and knowingly doing so without the victim’s consent. The complaint further alleges that he knowingly caused physical contact with the victim, who was hospital personnel acting in the performance of official duties, knowing the conduct would be regarded as offensive or provocative. While the Sergeant was transporting the juvenile to her residence, she stated she had been “drinking a lot” due to being raped a few days prior at a residence in Raymore, Missouri. Investigators later identified the suspect, Juwon F. Adejobi, based on information provided by the juvenile and her friend, who was also present during the sexual assault. On July 22, 2025, investigators met Adejobi at his residence to conduct an interview. According to investigators, Adejobi admitted to having consensual sexual intercourse with both juveniles. Adejobi gave investigators consent to search his phone, and upon a search, investigators found a video of Adejobi having sex with another 15-year-old female. The video was saved from Snapchat on January 19, 2025. During a second interview, Adejobi admitted the video was of him and another 15-year-old juvenile. Adejobi is now charged with sexual exploitation of a minor and possession of child pornography. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐬. On May 25, 2026, officers with the Pleasant Hill Police Department responded to the Price Chopper parking lot at 2101 State Route 7 Highway in Pleasant Hill in reference to a shots-fired incident. According to the probable cause statement, officers arrived at approximately 4:29 p.m. and located two males on the ground. One juvenile male had sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen, and Allen Thomas Prince had sustained a gunshot wound to the head that was later determined to be self-inflicted. Officers located a Winchester .243-caliber bolt-action rifle next to Prince and secured the weapon. Based on statements from multiple witnesses indicating Prince was the shooter and had fired the shots during the incident, officers placed Prince in handcuffs while medical aid was rendered. A second victim with a gunshot wound was also located and treated by EMS personnel; that victim was later pronounced deceased at the scene. During the investigation, officers interviewed witnesses who were present in the parking lot. Witnesses reported seeing Prince retrieve a rifle from his vehicle and begin firing. One witness stated Prince fired at a woman near her vehicle, causing her to fall to the ground. Witnesses further reported that Prince scanned the parking lot and fired at a juvenile who was pushing shopping carts. Witnesses stated they observed Prince continue scanning the area before attempting to leave the scene when two armed citizens approached and held him at gunpoint until officers arrived. While speaking with witnesses, one reported hearing what they initially believed were fireworks before observing Prince and the juvenile on the ground. An armed citizen at the scene stated they drew their firearm, ordered Prince to move the rifle away, then he and another armed citizen kept Prince at gunpoint until law enforcement arrived. Several individuals rendered medical aid while awaiting emergency responders. A review of the surveillance footage from the parking lot showed Prince pulling into the parking lot, exiting his vehicle with the rifle, and firing a first round that struck the juvenile from behind as the juvenile walked away. The footage then showed Prince firing a second round that struck another individual who appeared to be fleeing. Moments later, Prince appeared to turn the rifle on himself and fire a round, causing his self-inflicted injury. The video also showed citizens approaching to render aid before officers arrived. Investigators recovered three spent shell casings near Prince and one spent casing inside the rifle’s chamber. Prince was found in possession of approximately 20 additional rounds of ammunition. The ammunition recovered from Prince matched the make and caliber of the spent casings located at the scene. Witness statements also indicated Prince fired a round at another individual near a truck but missed. Prince is now charged with two counts of first-degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action, and first-degree murder. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐬. On May 23, 2026, officers with the Sedalia Police Department responded to Comfort Inn, located at 3600 W. Broadway Blvd., in reference to a reported assault. According to the probable cause statement, officers arrived at the Comfort Inn and spoke with the victim’s mother, who reported that her 7-year-old son had been kicked into the hotel pool by a woman later identified as Penny Kay Badgett. The child reportedly could not swim and was pushed into an area of the pool approximately five and a half feet deep. After the incident, a family member confronted Badgett. Badgett reportedly stated that the victim had been mean to another child. Investigators determined that Badgett had no relationship with the victim and had not interacted with him before the incident. Officers also spoke with the victim, who stated he was scared after being pushed into the pool. Investigators reviewed surveillance footage from the pool area. According to the report, the video showed Badgett standing behind the victim, waiting for him to sit down, and then extending her foot to push him into the pool. Using the surveillance footage and electronic door-lock records from the pool area, officers identified the room where Badgett was staying. After locating her, officers advised Badgett of her Miranda rights. Badgett invoked her right to an attorney. Officers then placed her under arrest. After being informed that investigators had video evidence of the incident, Badgett reportedly stated, “I know what this is about, I pushed him.” Badgett is now charged with abuse of a child and endangering the welfare of a child.
