On June 17, 2026, the Pettis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office filed a felony complaint in Pettis County Circuit Court against Crystal Sheresa Tomasen Burton. According to the complaint, Burton is charged with two counts of first-degree harassment, one count of first-degree stalking, and one count of second-degree property damage.

Court records allege that between May 31 and June 15, 2026, Burton sent threatening text messages to a victim to cause emotional distress. Prosecutors allege the messages did cause emotional distress and form the basis for one count of first-degree harassment. A second count of first-degree harassment stems from allegations that on June 7, 2026, Burton shouted violent threats at another victim, causing emotional distress.

The first-degree stalking charge alleges that between May 31 and June 15, 2026, Burton engaged in a course of conduct that included sending threatening text messages and following a victim around town. Prosecutors allege the conduct would have caused a reasonable person to be frightened, intimidated, or emotionally distressed and included threats intended to cause fear for the victim’s safety and the safety of family or household members.

The property damage charge alleges that on June 7, 2026, Burton knowingly damaged two truck tires in the 4200 block of S. Park by slashing them with a knife. The complaint states the tires were owned by the victim.

Prosecutors have requested that the probable cause statement be sealed. No further details are publicly available.
