On Aug. 24, 2026, officers with the Columbia Police Department responded to the 1000 block of Claudell Lane in reference to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers observed damage to the front and rear of the victim's white vehicle. The vehicle was positioned on a curb in a manner officers stated was consistent with being struck from the rear. Officers also observed tire tracks in the grass and a rear tire in the area near the victim's vehicle.
The victim was wearing only a brassiere when officers contacted her near the vehicle, and her shirt was located nearby. The victim identified Diana Leeann Anderson as the driver of a dark gray Ford Fusion. The victim stated she had been with a second victim and a witness when Anderson arrived. The victim reported that Anderson had an affair with her wife and arrived looking for her. The victim stated she told Anderson she did not know where her wife was, at which point a physical altercation occurred between the victim and Anderson.
The victim stated Anderson drove into the rear of her vehicle. Anderson then allegedly backed up, drove over the curb, and followed the victim and the second victim while attempting to strike them with the vehicle. The victim stated Anderson struck the second victim in the hip area before striking the front of the victim's vehicle. The victim estimated the damage to her vehicle at approximately $3,000. The victim stated she was concerned for her safety and believed Anderson was intentionally driving toward her in an attempt to strike her with the vehicle. The victim also stated Anderson was wearing a pink nightgown during the incident.
Officers then contacted the second victim, who identified herself as the victim's mother. The second victim stated she was with the victim and the witness when Anderson, driving a gray Ford Fusion with a sparkly rear license plate, struck the rear of the victim's vehicle. The second victim stated Anderson then drove onto a grassy area and followed them while attempting to strike them. She stated Anderson struck her in the hip area with the front of the vehicle while she was running.
The second victim reported scratching her leg during the incident, and officers observed blood on her right knee. The second victim stated she experienced physical pain after being struck by the vehicle. She further stated she was scared and believed Anderson was attempting to kill her and the first victim. The witness told officers she observed a gray Ford Fusion with tinted windows being driven by Anderson.
The witness stated Anderson drove toward the rear of the victim's vehicle, backed up, and drove onto the grass while attempting to strike both victims. The witness also stated Anderson struck the front of the victim's vehicle. The witness further reported that Anderson made statements including, "...bitch, I never care...fuck you...fuck you...fuck the police..."
Officers later located Anderson's Ford Fusion in the parking lot of Building 1000. Officers observed noticeable damage to the front of the vehicle and heavy scratching with white paint transfer on the passenger rear side. The vehicle also had a sparkly rear license plate, which was consistent with the second victim's description.
Officers contacted Anderson outside her apartment and advised her of her Miranda rights. Anderson stated she understood her rights and agreed to speak with officers. Officers reported observing no apparent injuries, marks, or bruising on Anderson. Anderson was wearing the same pink nightgown described by the victim, and officers noted the nightgown did not appear to be torn.
Anderson stated the victim had previously come to her residence and banged on her door. Anderson then drove to the victim's residence, where the victim began striking her in the face while she was inside her vehicle. Anderson stated she was scared because three people were present. She admitted she drove her vehicle toward the victim in an attempt to strike her. She said the victim and the second victim ran away, and she struck the rear of the victim's vehicle. Anderson backed up and drove around the vehicle.
Anderson reported she "scraped" the front of the victim's vehicle while attempting to leave the area. Anderson further said, "The first time I tried to hit her, then she ran, and I hit her car." Anderson reported that after she struck the rear of the victim's vehicle, she was free to leave the scene but chose not to do so. When asked why she did not leave after stating she was scared, she said, "Why would I drive away after somebody assaulted me?" Anderson acknowledged that nothing was preventing her from leaving after she alleged the victim punched her through the window of her vehicle. She further stated, "Why would I leave..." Officers asked her if she wanted to kill the victims. She responded, "Yes."
Anderson is now charged with two counts of assault in the first degree or attempt and one count of property damage in the first degree.
