On June 13, 2026, officers with the Sedalia Police Department responded to the area of 2750 S. Limit Ave. in reference to a road rage incident involving a reported firearm.
A motorist reported that a heavy-set white male with a beard, driving a Chrysler Town and Country, had displayed what appeared to be a handgun and waved it in his direction during the incident. The motorist stated that the vehicle later pulled into a nearby parking lot before he lost sight of it. The reporting party indicated he feared for his safety and believed his life was in danger.
Officers were unable to locate the vehicle in the immediate area, but located the ownerโs information. Based on the description provided by the reporting party, officers believed the registered ownerโs son, Dexter Erwin Cramer, was the suspect.
Officers later located the vehicle parked outside a residence in the 1100 block of S. Harrison Ave. While officers were monitoring the vehicle, Dexter entered it and began to drive away. Officers issued commands for him to exit the vehicle, but he refused. Officers then removed him from the vehicle and detained him in handcuffs. During the detention, Dexter stated there was a BB gun inside the vehicle but denied possessing a firearm.
Officers detected a strong odor of intoxicating beverages coming from both the vehicle and Dexterโs breath. A search of the vehicle located two empty liquor shooter bottles and a black handgun-style BB gun concealed beneath the driverโs seat. The BB gun did not have an orange safety tip.
Cramer was transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where field sobriety testing was conducted. He provided a breath sample that was below the legal limit for intoxication. According to the report, Cramer had no prior convictions for unlawful use of a weapon, harassment, or resisting arrest.
Dexter is now charged with harassment in the first degree and resisting arrest for a felony.
