On May 30, 2026, deputies with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office responded to a rural address near Centerview in reference to a reported domestic dispute. According to the probable cause statement, deputies arrived and observed Christian Jay Weaver yelling at the victim. After separating the parties, deputies observed severe bruising on the victim's face, neck, elbow, and wrist. The victim reported being struck as well as choked while driving in the vehicle. A witness also told deputies the victim had been struck while inside the vehicle.

After receiving the Miranda warning, Weaver stated that the victim had not caused any injuries to him during the altercation but declined to discuss the injuries observed on the victim. Deputies noted that Weaver had previously assaulted the victim and was currently on probation for that assault.

Weaver is now charged with second-degree assault.
