On July 31, 2026, Morgan County prosecutors filed a motion to revoke William David Kleuserโs bond in a case from 2023, stating Kleuser was a flight risk. The judge denied the stateโs motion for revocation on August 10 and released Kleuser on his own recognizance upon the same terms of his previous bond. Kleuser failed to appear at a hearing just two weeks later, on August 24. A warrant was issued for Kleuser, and a bond review hearing will be held before the first available judge within the next 7 days.
On August 15, 2023, the mother of a 15-year-old child came into the Saline County Sheriffโs Office to report her 15-year-old daughter had been having sex with her 42-year-old boyfriend, William D. Kleuser. The victimโs mother reported she found messages on her daughterโs iPad from Kleuser that led her to believe her daughter and Kleuser were sexually involved. The mother reported she has two children in common with Kleuser.
The detective asked the victim if sheโd be more comfortable speaking if her mother left the room for a bit. The victim nodded her head yes; she would like her mother to leave. After her mother left the room, the victim reportedly became emotional and said she did not know what was going on with Kleuser. When asked if there would be anything in the messages on the iPad that would lead investigators to believe Kleuser and the victim had been sexually involved, the victim replied, โprobablyโ. The victim initially denied having a sexual relationship with Kleuser but admitted she and Kleuser were probably closer than they should be.
The victim later reported she and Kleuser had sex one time but did not want to get him in trouble. The victim disclosed that she had sex with Kleuser after her 15th birthday in Gravois Mills. The victim reported she was talking with Kleuser, and he asked her if she was comfortable having sex. Kleuser took a shower, came back to the bedroom without a shirt, and asked the victim was still ok with having sex. Kleuser and the victim reportedly then had sex for about 15 to 20 minutes, before the victim reported being tired.
Investigators later interviewed Kleuser. Kleuser immediately stated he wanted an attorney before answering any questions. According to investigators, Kleuser spontaneously uttered that he understood the situation and knew it wasnโt good. He stated he is not a bad guy and doesnโt do bad things. He made a mistake, and it happens. Kleuser also stated he was not the only guilty one in this situation, but because he is an adult, he should have known better, but it was also a mutual thing.
ย Kleuser is charged with two counts of statutory rape, three counts of statutory sodomy โ deviate sexual intercourse with a child less than 14, and child molestation in the third degree โ child less than 14 years old.
