On May 29, 2026, a deputy with the Cooper County Sheriffโs Office responded to a reported physical domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, the deputy contacted the male suspect, Talon Lee Martinez. Martinez stated he and his girlfriend had been involved in a verbal and physical altercation. Martinez stated the victim struck him in the face when they arrived at the roadside park. He stated that after he exited the vehicle, she pursued him and punched him in the back of the head.
Martinez stated he had to โrip her off the top of meโ and โshoved her ass in the carโ, while muttering threats such as, โI will fucking kill you tonightโ and โI will fuck you up.โ Martinez further stated that when the victim grabbed his hair, he responded by grabbing her hair, shoving her into the car again, and punching her in the face approximately two times.
The deputy then contacted the victim, who stated Martinez was intoxicated. The victim stated the altercation began after Martinez, who had been drinking for several hours, became angry and stated he was โleaving.โ The victim said she refused to give Martinez the car keys because he was intoxicated and did not have a valid license.
Martinez reportedly continued trying to take the keys, and a struggle followed. Martinez forcibly attempted to take the keys, leading her to โbear hugโ him. She reported Martinez pulled her hair, pushed her from the vehicle, and struck her twice in the back of the head. The victim reportedly gave the keys to Martinez because of his continued verbal and physical aggression. She also reported that Martinez threatened to stab her multiple times and stated he would kill her.
Deputies contacted two witnesses at the scene. Witnesses reported they could hear Martinez from across the parking lot yelling obscenities at the victim. The witnesses stated they heard Martinez yell that he would โfucking stab her.โ They also stated they could hear the victim crying from across the parking lot.
One witness stated the argument continued to escalate. They reported observing what appeared to be Martinez physically assaulting the victim, but stated that because of the distance and darkness, they could not determine exactly what Martinez was doing. The other witness stated he never observed the victim assaulting Martinez or attempting to run after him or punch him.
The probable cause statement notes the victim stated she had no injuries from the altercation.
Martinez is now charged with domestic assault in the third degree.
