On May 12, 2026, deputies with the Saline County Sheriffโ€™s Department responded to a residence in Slater, Missouri, in reference to a reported domestic disturbance involving Nickolas Jo Todd.

According to the probable cause statement, deputies arrived at approximately 2:59 p.m. and made contact with the victim, who was described as visibly trembling and tearful. The victim told deputies she and Todd had previously been involved in a romantic relationship and were in the process of separating due to ongoing abuse.

The victim stated the altercation began over property that Todd wanted from the residence. She said that after she told Todd she intended to contact law enforcement, he assaulted her by applying pressure to her neck with his arm and forcibly pulling her to the ground. Deputies documented visible injuries that included rug burns to both knees, a rug burn on the left arm, cuts and scrapes on the right arm, and redness and marks on the neck consistent with her statement.

The victim told deputies she feared what Todd might do if he returned to the residence and said she was attempting to protect herself and her juvenile daughter. She further reported that Todd routinely threatened her whenever she attempted to contact law enforcement during prior domestic disturbances. Investigators stated the assault occurred after Todd learned she intended to call police, and they believed his actions were intended to prevent or discourage her from contacting or cooperating with law enforcement.

Before deputies arrived, Todd left the residence and walked toward his own residence. Deputies photographed the scene and the victimโ€™s injuries. The victimโ€™s interview and demeanor were also captured on a body-worn camera.

A records check revealed Todd was currently on bond for domestic assault in the fourth degree out of Saline County and was also on bond for a probation violation. Deputies additionally discovered that Todd had an active failure-to-appear warrant through the Marshall Police Department.

Todd is now charged with domestic assault in the second degree and tampering with a victim.
